Join Interfaith Leadership Council of Metro Detroit to promote respect on April 22.

On April 22, Terry Jones has threatened to come to Dearborn to burn a Quran in front of the Islamic Center of America. Jones is the pastor of a church in Gainesville, Florida, and has gained notoriety for burning a Quran there. In response, the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan (IFLC) Detroit has launched a petition drive as a way for people to promote respectful and peaceful discourse rather than hatred and fear. You can visit the IFLC website to sign the petition here, or go to change.org to sign the petition.

The Interfaith Leadership Council is also pulling together a peaceful, prayerful gathering in support of religious freedom at the Islamic Center of America at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21st. Religious leaders leading the prayer will include Roman Catholic Archbishop and former Michigan Roundtable Board Member Allen Vigneron and Imam Sayed Hassan Qazwini, spiritual leader of the hosting mosque. The petition noted above will be presented to the community at the Islamic Center of America on Thursday. The mosque is located at 19500 Ford Rd., Dearborn (just East of Evergreen on the North side of Ford)
