Detroit at at Crossroads

The Detroit region and all of Michigan continues to be challenged by systemic and “historically persistent” segregation and inequity among races, and long term, comprehensive responses are needed to combat this, according to this report released by the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion.

“Detroit at a Crossroads: Emerging From Crisis and Building Prosperity for All” was prepared for the Michigan Roundtable by the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at The Ohio State University. The report outlines racial discrepancies in children and adults living in poverty, in unemployment levels, in neighborhood vacancy rates, in physical separation from employment, in education and in health.
